Give your baby their first taste of yummy blackcurrants with this gorgeous blackcurrant puree.

Blackcurrants are great for your child’s immunity.
The most well-known health benefit of blackcurrants is that they contain large amounts of vitamin C. Did you know, weight for weight, blackcurrants contain four times more vitamin C than oranges and twice as many antioxidants as blueberries!? This blackcurrant puree is perfect for little ones.

Great for: 6-9 months, 9-12 months

Suitable for freezing



Small amount of butter

200 g blackcurrants (fresh or frozen)

1 apple, peeled & diced

250 g blueberries

200 g strawberries, hulled & halved

1 ripe banana

100 ml water



Melt the butter in a saucepan.

Add the blackcurrants and apple. Stir over the heat for 2 minutes.

Add the water and simmer for 5 to 7 minutes until the fruits are soft and all of the water has evaporated.

Add the blueberries and strawberries and stir for one minute.

Add the banana, then blend to the desired consistency.
